48 hours before deadline, we had a massive, 8+ hour power outage. It started late morning, and ended early evening, effectively killing a days work.
Instead of installing a portable nuclear powered generator, I've gone for the next best thing: an APC 500VA 300W battery backup. It won't keep me going for hours... not even an hour, but up to 44 minutes.
So, I won't lose any work when the power goes out, and I'll have time to transfer everything I need to my laptop so I can continue working off its batteries for another 2-4 hours.
