Working from home has its advantages - no overhead of an office, tax write-offs, keeping an eye on all the equipment you acquire.... but it also has its distractions. Phone calls, the fridge, two fat feline furballs begging for food or attention, family, TV, and all the million and one other things you wouldn't normally have to put up with working in an office.![]()
One great tool I use to help keep myself disciplined and working is software called Countdown - mac only.
I have various settings for it, from 10 minutes to much longer. When I start a page, whether I'm flatting or coloring, I set the countdown timer for X minutes, and try to finish a certain amount of work in that time. It might be flatting an entire page, or coloring one panel.
Best of all - it's free.

Okay, I have a Blog.... Now What?
My name is Mark Sweeney, and I color comic books for a living, using a mac, Wacom Intuos 3, Photoshop CS2 & Painter IX.5.
Currently I'm coloring books for Avatar Press.
Upcoming books include Stargate Atlantis Wraithfall #2 and the Lady Death Annual, pages 10-30 (someone else did the first nine pages before it was dropped in my lap).
Previously published books include:
Lady Death, Abandon All Hope 3 & 4,
Stargate Atlantis Wraithfall #1
Stargate SG1: Ra Reborn Prequel
Frank Miller's Robocop #9
Jason X Special.
I've also helped out other colorists on Snake-Eyes: Declassified (2 pages); Superman Strength #2 & 3, - 24 pages; Beastman: Icons of Evil (28 pages, plus all backgrounds on the entire book), and backgrounds on various Masters of the Universe books.
To see pages I've colored you can visit my gallery on my website at: mark-sweeney.com
